Derek Lew

Derek Lew an active member of the technology startup community in Vancouver. He is a Partner with Initio Group, a Vancouver, BC-based early-stage angel investment firm, and a lawyer experienced in the areas of corporate, commercial and real estate law. Active in his community, he is a Director of the Frank and Joan Lew Charitable Trust and the FJL Housing Society, which focuses on matters related to social housing in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. Professionally, he is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia. Derek holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alberta.


Jim Charlton

Jim Charlton has over 30 years of venture capital experience; 20 years with GrowthWorks Capital. After beginning his career with Discovery Enterprises (an early stage venture capital firm) and then Ventures West Management, Jim joined GrowthWorks Capital in 1996 before stepping away in 2015. Jim rejoined the team in Spring 2018.


Jim’s board/investment activity includes: Apparent Networks, Cellex Power, Cellfor, Chancery Software, fSONA Communications, Gemcom Software, HotHaus Technologies, LightHaus Logic, Mixpo, SFG Technologies, Silicon Chalk and Teradici.

Jim has a BSc in Physics/Astronomy from UBC and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario.



Peter Clark

Peter Clark, appointed President & CEO of GrowthWorks Atlantic Venture Fund on July 1, 2015, has over 18 years of experience in private company investing, corporate development, transaction execution, and business planning with public and private companies in Canada and the United States. Peter joined GrowthWorks in 2006 at the Regional Investment Manager for New Brunswick and was promoted to Vice President of Investments for Atlantic Canada in 2012. Prior to starting at GrowthWorks Peter served as VP Finance and Corporate Development with Barrett Xplore (Canada's leading wireless broadband Internet service provider), and VP Corporate Development with TeleTech Holdings (a NASDAQ listed provider of outsourced customer management services). Also, Peter served as Vice President and Treasurer for Covad International, a subsidiary of the largest independent DSL wholesaler in the United States. Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) degree from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.


Current and past board positions include: Smart Skin Technologies, Introhive, Lymbix, Enovex Technology, and Spinzo Corp. Peter is a member of the Advisory Board of the Huntsman marine Science Center and a member of the Endowment Board of the Fredericton YMCA. Previously, Peter served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Fredericton Community Foundation and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Fredericton Playhouse.
