Derek Lew

President & CEO

Derek Lew is a Partner with Initio Group, a Vancouver, BC-based early-stage angel investment firm, and a lawyer experienced in the areas of corporate, commercial and real estate law. Active in his community, he is a Director of the Frank and Joan Lew Charitable Trust and the FJL Housing Society, which focuses on matters related to social housing in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. He is also an active member of the technology startup community in Vancouver. Professionally, he is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia. Derek holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alberta.

David Levi

Executive Vice President

David Levi is the Executive Vice President GrowthWorks Ltd. and its affiliates including GrowthWorks Capital Ltd. David has grown assets under management to approximately $480 million for GrowthWorks Capital, the second largest manager of labour-sponsored investment funds in Canada. In January 1992 David started the Working Opportunity Fund, BC's original labour-sponsored investment fund. The fund has invested over $600 million in more than 120 growth-oriented, entrepreneurial BC companies.

GrowthWorks was founded by David in January 1999 and has quickly grown to be a leading venture capital fund manager, having made investments in over 200 companies across the country.

In addition to his entrepreneurship and strategic leadership, David has over 14 years of investment management experience and an in-depth knowledge of the brokerage community, having previously been chair of VanCity Credit Union and Vice-President of Broker Services at C.M. Oliver.

David has provided strategic direction to many portfolio companies through various board positions. David also chairs Verite, an independent, non-profit social auditing and research organization and is involved in a number of community organizations.

Joe Timlin

Vice President, Investments

Joe Timlin joined GrowthWorks Capital in 2002 focusing on software and information technology investments. Prior to joining GrowthWorks Capital, he worked for four years with BDC's Venture Capital Group focusing on information technology and alternative energy investments. Joe has experience in technical sales and sales management, and has worked as a construction engineer. Joe has a BSc in Civil Engineering from Queen's University and a MBA from UBC.

Current and past board positions include: Bycast, Layer-7 Technologies, Make Technologies, ResponseTek Networks, Teradici, and QuIC Financial Technologies.

Rolf Dekleer

Vice President, Investments

Rolf Dekleer has eighteen years of operating experience with technology companies such as Cymbolic Sciences, MacDonald Dettwiler, Agilent Technologies, Hewlett-Packard and Schlumberger. He has extensive experience in product management and business development, including 10 years with venture capital backed firms. He also has two years of investment experience with Innovation Ontario Corp., an early stage venture capital firm in Toronto.

Rolf has an MA and an MBA from York University, and graduated from BCIT's Electronics Engineering program.

Timothy Lee

Chief Investment Officer, Venture Capital

Timothy Lee is the Chief Investment Officer, Venture Capital at GrowthWorks Capital. Tim joined GrowthWorks in 2005 and brings over 16 years of corporate finance and venture capital experience. Prior to joining GrowthWorks, Tim was a General Partner with another Canadian venture capital firm, where he was involved with a number of notable exits.

Tim has a BA from the University of Toronto, an MBA from York University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Peter Clark

President & CEO of Growthworks Atlantic Venture Fund Ltd.

Peter Clark, appointed President & CEO of GrowthWorks Atlantic Venture Fund Ltd. on July 1, 2015, has over 18 years of experience in private company investing, corporate development, transaction execution and business planning with public and private companies in Canada and the United States.

Peter joined GrowthWorks in 2006 at the Regional Investment Manager for New Brunswick and was promoted to Vice President of Investments for Atlantic Canada in 2012. Prior to starting at GrowthWorks Peter served as VP Finance and Corporate Development with Barrett Xplore, Inc., Canadas leading wireless broadband Internet service provider, and VP Corporate Development with TeleTech Holdings, Inc., a NASDAQ listed provider of outsourced customer management services. Also, Peter served as Vice President and Treasurer for Covad International, a subsidiary of the largest independent DSL wholesaler in the United States.

Current and past board positions include: Smart Skin Technologies Inc., Introhive Inc., Lymbix Inc., Enovex Technology Ltd, and Spinzo Corp.

Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) degree from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.

He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Huntsman marine Science Center and a member of the Endowment Board of the Fredericton YMCA. Previously, Peter served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Fredericton Community Foundation and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Fredericton Playhouse.

Tony Rautava

Chief Compliance Officer

Mr. Rautava brings over 10 years of experience working with investment funds in the areas of operations, financial reporting, compliance, client service and fund product development. He also has experience with continuous disclosure obligations having served as the corporate secretary of a TSX listed reporting issuer. Mr. Rautava holds a BBA with a specialization in Finance from Trinity Western University and has completed several industry related courses, including the Partners, Directors & Officers course and the Chief Compliance Officers Qualifying Exam. Mr. Rautava has previously served and continues to serve as an observer on boards of portfolio companies managed by GrowthWorks Capital. He is also involved in the technology and venture capital community in Vancouver, presently serving as a director of the Vancouver Enterprise Forum.
